Student Wellbeing
At Brighton Secondary School, we foster an environment of belonging and connectedness that supports every young person’s wellbeing and readiness to learn. Our community understands that students learn more when they are healthy, safe and happy, and we are committed to creating environments and structures that support this.
Brighton Secondary School uses a “team around the learner” approach to support the wellbeing of all students within our community.
Home group teachers develop positive relationships with students and families to be the first point of contact for any wellbeing concerns.
Year Level Leaders work collaboratively with home group teachers to build trusting and supportive homegroup environments and shape positive learning communities.
The home group program is deliberately designed to support the delivery of the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum, and is enhanced by other targeted wellbeing and engagement activities and projects.
Our Wellbeing Team of Youth Workers, Learning and Engagement Leaders and our school psychologist work collaboratively to design and deliver proactive evidence-informed programs to build positive emotional and social behaviours to support engagement and learning.
Aboriginal Education and Learning Support teams collaborate with the Wellbeing Team and Year Level Leaders to support the social-emotional and learning needs of all young people.
