Gaming & Gambling Resources

In Week 5, our Year 10 students will be attending a 90-minute Gaming Education Seminar, facilitated by qualified, experienced gambling counsellors through Relationships Australia South Australia (RASA).

Australian research shows between 2.4% and 4.5% of adolescents meet the clinical definition of problem gambling. This is about one in every 25 young people, which is an average of one in every high school classroom.

In the seminar, students will learn about the odds, identify risks, and find out how to get help (or help someone you know), dissect a gambling themed advertisement and explore how viewers are impacted, participate in an interactive myth buster activity and hear a powerful story of lived-experience gambling harm and recovery, followed by Q&A.

Did you know?

  • 50% of young people in Australia have participated in some type of gambling by age 15
  • Research suggested 1 in 6 16-17 year olds have gambled in the previous 12 months
  • Teens are 3-5 times more likely than adults to experience gambling related harm
